Works by Katherine Balch, Pascal Le Boeuf, and Shawn Okpebholo’s City Beautiful move from experimental, industrial‑inflected sound worlds into Ravel’s trio, which bridges late‑Romantic warmth and early‑modern experimentation—lyricism and lush harmony alongside novel textures.

Three piano trios by living American composers that explore unexpected sonorities are capped with Maurice Ravel’s groundbreaking foray into the form more than a century ago.
