Counterpoint is thrilled to launch its new season with a truly unique concert—Bach to the Future. This program is a bold fusion of J.S. Bach's timeless genius with the innovative energy of the 21st century, brought to life by the exceptional musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), the highly sought-after soloist and collaborator, cellist Gabriel Cabezas, and Counterpoint’s founder and pianist Natalia Kazaryan, in partnership with Grace Street Creative. Bach to the Future reimagines Bach’s beloved masterpieces for both traditional and unconventional instrumentations , perfectly suited for the 21st century multimedia stage of the Dupont Underground. The program will feature Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 for a flute quintet with harpsichord, Chaconne in D minor transcribed for piano by Ferruccio Busoni, Air on the G String for string quartet, and works performed on electronic keyboard instruments, in a nod to Wendy Carlos’ groundbreaking recording “Switched On Bach.”
